About This Blog

Hi Friends,

writing

Welcome to A New Pair of Glasses. Over the past couple of decades, I’ve made numerous inspired attempts at writing a book on what I fondly think of as “practical spirituality.” The writings cover a myriad of thought-provoking topics that include various spiritual traditions, quantum theory, philosophy, human consciousness, religion, addiction and obsession, human relationships, and more – quite a gamut of information to try to wrap up nicely into a single Amazon-ready publication. With the advent and flexibility of blogging, I’m inspired these days to just put it all here instead. This way the content is offered freely while also allowing for commentary, fellowship and the opportunity for deeper discussions.

It should be emphasized that the material shared here is neither necessarily original in terms of ‘new’ ideas, nor is it claimed as any special wisdom or insight unique to this writer – rather it comes from a blend of scientific, nebula-thinker3philosophical, and both modern and traditional spiritual disciplines already widely available to us in one form or another. I’ll do my best to reference specific topics with online links and literature as I go along where applicable. My mixture and delivery of the information will simply be another translation of often abstract ideas into a form that some readers will resonate with.

Ultimately it is my deep desire to assist in providing a spark for readers that helps ignite the light of passion, enthusiasm and awareness in the compelling ideas shared here so that each visitor may find their path more brightly lit going forward, no matter where each of us appears to be along the path, and no matter what particular path we each appear to be on. It is my experience that here, now, in this seemingly beat up old world, the light has come, all paths converge upon it, and that light is and has always been within us… it’s just a matter of remembering.

Lastly, readers are always invited to post comments or questions so we can take deeper dives as inspired.

Thanks for visiting. May your path be joyful and well lit. ;o)

A number of inter and multi-disciplinary approaches seem to indicate a looming unification of consciousness. Teilhard de Chardin postulated the evolutionary momentum towards an ‘Omega Point’and it would appear to be within our collective grasp.

Socio-political obstacles and constraints have always provided challenges but never before have we been so open to sharing and humbly asking of each other for explanations.

The ‘race’ for knowledge looks to be relaxing into a natural coalescence. Spiritually, the first and last will probably share the same superposition – ironic that what we might have been searching so earnestly for was there all the time. Often the way, though.

Personally, I have always loved and subscribed to Niven’s Law: “any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology.” Also vice versa, perhaps?

Beautifully put Ruan, thank you for gracing the blog with your thoughts. A unification of consciousness is looming indeed… or perhaps more accurately the blanket of separation and worldly distraction we’ve so long covered it over with is disolving now at an exponential rate. As you say, what we’ve been searching for has always been there. Time for the butteryfly to emerge from its cocoon, and realize it is also the air in which it flys.

An honorable cause – I’ve been so impressed with your site I’ve put it on my blogroll. I think we definetely have very similar goals, I’ve also wanted for a long time to publish a book that “integrated” and unified everything that’s lying in bits and pieces throughout the world… a book that’s primary focus was about integration (the tantric law), as well as offering the key skills and tools for integration in ones own life.

  4. Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your devotion and dedication to taking a deeper look into our use of words (Can We Have a Word post). Playfully the Spirit tickles us inside, and carries us higher and higher into the Wisdom of Spirit.

I hope to see you in Utah in October, and share a long hug and playful laughter. I was just mentioning you to some friends the other day, along with the musical and theatrical ‘surprise’ you had for the messengers when we visited Sacramento last Fall. :)

    Forever in Love,

    David

    Dear Patrick

I wondered if you might like a mutual link to my English word website or press release details of my ensuing book with Penguin Press on amusing and interesting English vocabulary?

      Hi Adam,

I checked out the website for your book, “The Wonder of Whiffling,” and it looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing the link here. After living in the UK for a over a year several years ago, I can sure appreciate a book on fun definitions for English jargon. I’m looking forward to reading it.

      Cheers,

  7. It was once said by President Dwight Eisenhower, “A people who values its privileges above its principles soon loses both,” and that’s just what is happening to the democrat party. For what will it profit a party if it gained all the power but lost the country’s soul?

  8. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one today..
